Mathematics

4th grade

In Grade 4 get introduced to the concept of factors, multiples and prime numbers. It is in Grade 4 that children also learn about decimal numbers. The understanding of Decimal numbers is extended to many other concepts like measurement and time. The idea of area and perimeter is also introduced in this grade.

5th grade

In Grade 5 children learn to operate both on fractions and decimals. With a new concept getting introduced in every grade, percentages and the unitary method get introduced in Grade 5. Children start learning higher-order concepts in geometry. Concepts like measuring and drawing angles. By grade 5 the knowledge of whole numbers and their operations is strengthened.

6th grade

In Grade 6 a lot of topics from Grade 5 are done again but in more depth. Children get introduced to the concept of Algebra. They learn to work with algebraic expressions and linear equations. Applied math concepts like profit and loss, percentages, ratio and proportions. Geometry in Grade 6 covers working on different proof.

7th grade

In 7th grade mathematics, children will learn the basic idea of probability and applications of it. They will also learn about percentages, proportions and ratios. They will go more in depth for algebra and will learn how to solve inequalities. They will comprehend about circles, cross sections and volume. And finally they will learn about data management, arithmetic's, and a little bit more about integers.

8th grade

In 8th Grade mathematics, topics from 8th grade are elaborated on. You will find that topics such as Problem Solving, Angles, Volume, Equations and Algebra are repeated, however, if you look at the subtopics, you will see that the chapters are taught in more depth. You will also see new topics such as surface area, slope and association, and some representations. So, one thing that can be said about 8th grade math is that it teaches children the basic math skills they need to acquire before they go to high school.

9th grade

In 9th Grade mathematics, children will learn topics from algebra to geometry. In 9th grade, students have to focus more on proving certain things, so there is a whole topic that discusses the proofs behind certain theorems. In geometry, children will learn about how triangles can be congruent, lines and angles, proving geometrical statements, and the basics of geometry. In algebra, they will learn about solving linear functions and equations, how to graph linear functions, writing linear functions, solving systems of linear equations, and exponential functions. And of course, there is one topic for statistics where they learn about measures of variation, and ways to represent data.
