Chemistry

Our goal is to prepare your child for the AP classes that they will have to take during high school. Instead of starting it all at 9th grade (which is a burden to them), we are beginning it from 7th grade in order to develop their knowledge and ease their load, so that they are ready for the APs. We have designed our curriculum based on the AP syllabus.

7th grade

In 7th Grade Chemistry, students will learn about Acids, Bases, their properties, uses and their neutralization and uses of neutralization. They will be taught about Physical changes, Chemical changes and difference between these changes. Weather & Climate, adaptations of Animals to different weather and climates will be explained in detail.

8th grade

In 8th Grade Chemistry, students will learn all about synthetic fibres and plastics, their uses and impacts. They will learn about coal and petroleum, the chemical effects of electricity and metals and non metals. Once this is over, they will comprehend about the pollution of air and water and combustion and flames.

9th grade

In 9th Grade Chemistry, students will learn all about our planet. Then they will learn about the nature of matter and elements and compounds, including the types of bonding. Speaking of bonding, students will then learn about chemical reactions and acids, bases and salts. And to top it all off, 9th graders will learn about how to put everything they have learnt in numbers with respect to mass, volume and moles.
